Software and scripts
This is FREE software developed under x86 Linux and should work on
any Unix. Some of my scientific projects have also involved
programming, they are described in my Physics page.
Note: Many of these scripts include some path definitions near the
beginning of the file. You should check and edit them before
running. For example boinctime.sh requires the path to the BOINC
directory on your filesystem.
- System utilities
- Idler, a spindown daemon for external drives
- Music / video tools
- a2flac.sh Lossless audio file transcoder with filename parsing for titles
- cdgrab.sh Distributed CD ripping aid
- comms is a
textmode audio player, a frontend to XMMS/Audacious, the page explains more :-)
- discindex.sh Simple but effective
filing/indexing system for CD/DVD storage, not just for music
- flacsplit.py Tool for splitting and tagging audio files with cue sheets, not just for flac
- flashvideoget.sh downloads the video file (.flv) from those annoying web pages with flash players, so you can watch these more comfortably with another player. Does not work with all sites, for Youtube and Google you might try Clive or youtube-dl.
- mp3titles.sh Audiofile tagger with filename parsing for titles
- qtl-mplayer.sh QuickTime Link wrapper for mplayer
Text manipulation
-
code2html.py, a simple script to
convert source code into HTML. Used primarily for E2 writeups where [] need to be
converted in addition to <>.
-
nodify.py is used to preview writeups
for Everything2. It converts the
bracket links into HTML, along with other small fixes.
- takeaddr.py Having found an excellent Perl script for printing envelopes by Greg, this is a front end that grabs the 'from' and 'to' addresses from a LaTeX letter file.
